Find Your Place on Our Team

To make Diaspora Memorial a success, we’ve organized our volunteer efforts into four key teams. Find the team that best fits your skills and passion, and see the specific roles where you can make a difference.

Feel the Pride of Making a Difference

When you volunteer with WeDiasporan, you’ll witness firsthand the incredible impact your contributions have on individuals and communities.

WeDiasporan is a youth empowerment organization that passes the torch of African and diaspora heritage to the next generation through digital storytelling.

We are not just an archive of past stories; we are a foundry for the storytellers of tomorrow. Our single, focused mission is to equip young creators with the tools, skills, and confidence to own their heritage and shape the future.

We achieve this through our flagship initiative, Diaspora Memorial, an annual accelerator that trains and mentors young people to become powerful voices for their communities.

Become a WeDiasporan Volunteer

Your contribution, big or small, will help shape the future of a young storyteller. Let us know how you’d like to be involved, and we’ll start the conversation.

1. Mentorship & Training Team 🎓

Mission: To directly guide and equip our young creators with the skills they need to succeed in the Storyteller’s Toolkit.

  • Creative Mentor: Provide one-on-one guidance to a participant, helping them develop their story from idea to final project.
  • Workshop Instructor: Lead a virtual workshop in your area of expertise (e.g., filmmaking, podcasting, scriptwriting).
  • Portfolio Reviewer: Offer constructive feedback on final submissions to help our creators refine their craft.

2. Creative & Content Team 🎨

Mission: To tell the story of WeDiasporan and our young creators to the world through compelling digital content.

Content Writer & Researcher: Write engaging blog posts, newsletters, and social media copy. Conduct research to support our storytelling initiatives.

Video Editor: Edit and produce polished video content for our social media, website, and promotional campaigns.

Graphic Designer: Create high-quality graphics for social media, event promotions, and our annual “Legacy Collection” publication.

3. Community & Events Team 🤝

Mission: To build a vibrant, engaged community around our program and execute a world-class annual showcase.

  • Community Promoter: Act as an ambassador, sharing information about Diaspora Memorial within your networks and on social media to drive recruitment and awareness.
  • Event Assistant: Provide logistical and operational support for our virtual and in-person events, including the annual Diasporan Memorial Gala.
  • Online Community Moderator: Help foster a safe, supportive, and active environment in our online spaces for participants and mentors.

4. Partnerships & Growth Team 📈

Mission: To secure the resources and strategic connections needed to fuel our mission and ensure its long-term success.

AI & Tech Specialist: Use your skills in AI, data analysis, or web tech to help us optimize our outreach, analyze engagement, and improve our digital platforms.
